Amanda Stitson

Deputy Manager/ SENDCo

I’m Amanda, I’ve been working in Childcare and Education for over 15 years, 13 of which have been here at Premier Lodge Day Nursery. I first started as a lunchtime assistant in 2008 and since then have worked my way up, holding many different posts within the nursery and gaining skill and experience with all ages of children. I became the SENCO here in 2011 and have been supporting the children’s development and ensuring that our provision allows equal access to all activities and opportunities, regardless of individual needs, ever since. I am proud to be able to spend my working days dedicated to such a varied, interesting and fulfilling role, which has real personal importance to me, as the parent of children with additional needs, myself. Throughout my time at the nursery, I have had the opportunity to undertake a great deal of training; from my level 3 qualification in Children’s and Young Peoples Workforce, to specific training in Special Educational Needs Coordination and supporting many different individual needs and conditions and leadership and management qualifications. I am always looking forward to learning more and gaining further skills and qualifications, that will ultimately mean I can do more for the children I care for, to help them reach their outcomes. In my time at home, I enjoy spending time with my family and our unusual pets. I am an avid reader and nature lover and can often be found walking, or enjoying some down time in the local parks and green spaces. I love to travel and am lucky enough to have visited some of the most beautiful places in the world. I also enjoy history, archaeology and anthropology and enjoy spending time researching local and personal history, Mudlarking and baking. I look forward to meeting you and having the opportunity to be a part of your child’s learning and developmental journey.
